Blogging from South Korea - Daejeon

We have finally travelled up from south to the north-west of South Korea. In Daejeon right now, and will be returning to Seoul tomorrow evening after visiting a few more temples. There are still a lot of temples left unvisited by our group, and we missed 3 temples so far due to time constraints. Bo bian la, hopefully in the near future, i'll be able to re-visit the temples and also explore other temples. It's day 6 of our trip, and it's a wonderful and enriching one.

Today, we visited a site "弥勒寺址". It used to be a very big and famous temple during the Baekje period, and it's built by the 百济薯童武王,the King that we watched in the Korean Drama 薯童谣 。It was destroyed during the Japanese invasion and what's left now is the relic pagoda, which is now in the midst of re-construction. When i saw the picture in the past when it was first excavated, and the state it was then and now, my heart sank. Somewhere in my heart, i felt very upset. It also reminded me of impermanence.

I have now visited all the temples that i had yearned to visit so much last year. The weird thing is, i wasn't as touched as i thought i would be. However, it's still a fulfilling trip. It's indeed tiring travelling on the bus most of the time, as we moved to different region everyday, changing hotels everyday. Tomorrow, we'll be staying at Lotte World in Seoul for 2 days, and we'll be returning to Singapore on 10th June. I am quite sad to leave Korea, though i do want to go home too. Mixed feelings. haha...i told my Master that i find it short that it's only a 10 day trip, cuz it's too rushed and that we couldn't cover some of the places within 10 days. He said "很好了啦!已经回来家乡了。24个人陪你回家乡探亲leh"...haha...but i still hope to come back again for the next trip. I just know now that when i return to Seoul, i have to go to Bongeunsa and Joyesa to express my gratitude towards the Buddhas for granting my wish.
